A gluten-free version of the classic orange chicken, featuring tender chicken pieces coated in a sweet and tangy orange sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup gluten-free flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 2 tbsp gluten-free soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix gluten-free flour, salt, and black pepper. Coat chicken pieces evenly.
  2. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry chicken until golden and cooked through, about 5-6 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, combine orange juice, gluten-free soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Stir in cornstarch mixture and cook until sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
  5. Return chicken to the pan, toss to coat in the sauce. Garnish with orange zest and green onions.
  6. Serve hot with rice or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, increase red pepper flakes.
  • Use freshly squeezed orange juice for the best flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
